📘 Odoo Implementation Methodology (SaaS)

🎯 Overall implementation goal:

Implement the agreed functional model in the Odoo system through configuration, customization, user training, launching the system into productive operation, and providing ongoing support.

🔹 Stage 1. Project Initiation (Odoo Cloud)

📌 Goal:

Officially launch the project, confirm key agreements, activate accounts, and ensure organizational readiness for the start of the configuration.

📋 Stage checklist:

✅ Signed contract for project implementation

✅ Signed NDA (optional)

✅ Ordered or confirmed subscription to Odoo Cloud (Enterprise SaaS)

✅ User accounts connected (at a minimum — client administrator)

✅ First payment made according to the contract (advance or first stage)

📌 Stage result:

The project has officially launched. The platform is activated, main accounts have been created, and the parties are ready to begin the setup.

🔹 Step 2. Setup and Configuration

📌 Goal:

Deploy the working environment, create a prototype of the future system, conduct training for the pilot group and the coordinator.

📋 Stage checklist:

✅ Deployed DEV and PROD environments

✅ Necessary licenses connected

✅ Basic settings completed (language, currency, domain, etc.)

✅ Prototype created + demo data (two iterations)

✅ Training conducted for the pilot group

✅ In-depth training conducted for the coordinator and administrator

✅ Prototype approved for further development

🔹 Stage 3. Development

📌 Goal:

Implement the necessary custom functionality, automate processes, document changes, and conduct internal testing.

📋 Stage checklist:

✅ Functionality developed according to the prototype

✅ Automated business processes

✅ User cases and test cases developed

✅ Technical documentation created

✅ Testing conducted

✅ DEV cleared of test data

🔹 Stage 4. Integrations and Data Migration

📌 Goal:

Implement external integrations, migrate historical data, configure exchange flows, and move the system to PROD.

📋 Stage checklist:

✅ Integrations with approved systems completed

✅ Online integration set up (in real-time)

✅ Mapping and migration of historical data configured

✅ Queues / triggers / synchronization logic set up

✅ Demonstration of results for stages 3–4 conducted

✅ Edits made (up to 2 iterations)

✅ All settings and customizations transferred to PROD

✅ PROD tested by the developer

🔹 Stage 5. Testing and Preparation for Launch

📌 Goal:

Engage users for testing, complete training, test the system in a real scenario.

📋 Stage checklist:

✅ The client tested the system according to test cases

✅ Training for the pilot group has been conducted

✅ Video instructions have been created in the knowledge base

✅ The technical specifications for all changes have been formulated

✅ Historical data has been uploaded

✅ Reports have been configured

✅ Additional training for the coordinator and administrator has been conducted

✅ Support has been connected and the support channel has been tested

🔹 Stage 6 (optional). Additional training

📌 Goal:

In-depth training for a large number of users or internal administrators (if provided for in the contract).

📋 Stage checklist:

✅ Additional training sessions conducted under recording

✅ Videos uploaded to the knowledge base

✅ Technical training provided for the coordinator/administrator on maintenance and support

🔹 Stage 7. Go-Live

📌 Goal:

Officially put the system into industrial operation, connect users, and ensure control and support.

📋 Stage checklist:

✅ All users are connected

✅ All processes are running on PROD

✅ The internal support request process has been set up

✅ Enhanced support is provided for 2 weeks

✅ All bugs identified during Go-Live have been fixed

🔹 Stage 8. Post-Go-Live Support and Development

📌 Goal:

Ensure stability, complete the project, plan for future expansion, and close all legal aspects.

📋 Stage checklist:

✅ Activated support for 2 months

✅ Collected additional ideas and wishes

✅ Developed a roadmap for system development

✅ Conducted an assessment of future functionality

✅ Agreed on the next steps or recorded as backlog

✅ Signed final acts of completed work

Features of implementation specifically in the SaaS version:

❌ No access to the code — everything is configured through the UI

✅ Always up-to-date version (Odoo updates the system automatically)

✅ Minimal IT infrastructure costs

✅ Can start working in a few days

⚙️ Proper configuration and training are more important
